AI & Data

Who owns your content, which AI providers process it, and how long we keep it.

Last updated 5 November 2026

In short

  • Your content stays yours. You own the photos you upload and every title, description, tag, image and post we make for you.
  • We never train AI on it. We don't, and our AI providers are set up so they can't.
  • Two AI providers process it: OpenRouter for text and checking photos, and fal for editing images. Both are named below with exactly what they receive.
  • You can delete it any time, in the app or by email.

You own your content

Everything you put into YelloShelf stays yours: product photos, logos, model photos, descriptions, answers to our questions and your shop details.

Everything YelloShelf makes for you is yours too: titles, descriptions, tags, prices we suggest, images, posts and Product Studio edits. You can use them commercially, anywhere. We claim no rights in them.

We use your content only to create your results. We don't sell it, share it with other customers or use it in our marketing.

We don't train AI on your content

We do not use your content to train, fine-tune or improve any AI model. Neither do our AI providers: every request we send them is set to forbid training and storage, as explained below.

OpenRouter: text and photo checks

OpenRouter (OpenRouter, Inc., USA) passes our requests to the AI model that does the work. We use it to read your product photos, ask you the right questions, write your titles, descriptions, tags and post captions, plan your images and posts, read your shop page, and check that generated images still show your exact product.

What it receives: your product photos and generated images, the product details and answers you give us, your shop profile, and public research such as keywords and other sellers' listings. It does not receive your name, email, password or payment details.

The models we use through it: Google Gemini 3.6 Flash and Gemini 3.8 Flash for most work, Anthropic Claude Sonnet 5.5 for writing marketplace listings, and Anthropic Claude Haiku 5.5, OpenAI GPT-5.4 and GPT-5.4 mini as backups when the main model is down.

How it is protected: every request asks OpenRouter to use only model hosts with zero data retention, which means they don't store your prompts or photos after replying and don't train on them. These hosts are Google Cloud Vertex AI, Amazon Bedrock and Microsoft Azure. If no such host is available, the request fails instead of going somewhere else.

fal: image editing

fal (Features and Labels, Inc., USA) runs the image models that create your product images and Product Studio edits.

What it receives: the photos needed for that image (your product photos, and your logo or model photo when you choose them) and our written instructions for the image. Photos are sent inside the request, not uploaded to fal's storage.

The models we use through it: Nano Banana Pro (made by Google), with Seedream 4 (made by ByteDance) as a backup. fal passes the request to the model's maker to run it.

How it is protected: every request tells fal not to keep the request or its result in its history, and to delete the generated image from its servers one hour after it is made. We copy the image to our own storage straight away. fal's terms say it does not use customer content to train or build its products.

Other providers

  • DataForSEO, Etsy and eBay: we send search keywords to look up search volume, competing listings and prices. They do not receive your photos or descriptions.
  • Cloudflare R2 stores your photos and results. Neon stores your account and product data. Both encrypt data at rest.
  • Resend sends our emails. PostHog and Sentry help us measure use and fix errors and receive no photos.
  • Dodo Payments handles payments. It never shares your card details with us.

How long we keep it

Deleted data can stay in our encrypted database backups until those backups expire. We only restore a backup to recover from a failure, never to bring back content you deleted.

  • Your photos and results: until you delete them or your account.
  • A Product Studio photo you delete: removed at once.
  • A product you delete: its photos and results are removed within 8 days.
  • A workspace or account you delete: everything in it is removed within 24 hours. Content you added to a workspace someone else owns stays with that workspace.
  • Photos you upload but never use: removed after 24 hours.
  • At our AI providers: nothing is kept after your result is made, except fal's copy of a generated image, which it deletes after one hour.
  • Payment and credit records: as long as accounting law requires, without your photos or listings.

How to delete your content

  • One product: open the product's menu (the three dots) and choose Delete.
  • One Product Studio photo: choose Delete under the photo.
  • A whole workspace: Settings, Danger, Delete workspace (workspace owners).
  • Your account and everything you own: Settings, Profile, Delete account.
  • Or email support@yelloshelf.com from your account email and we will delete it for you.
