eRank alternatives: Etsy SEO tools compared
eRank is the tool most Etsy sellers start with. Here's how Marmalead, EverBee, Alura and Sale Samurai compare, what each one's free plan includes, and the free Etsy tool you might not be using yet.

You've been using eRank's free plan, and you keep running out of keyword lookups halfway through a listing. Or you've paid for it for a year and wonder if something else would show you better data. Every Etsy seller group has a different favourite, and each one swears theirs is the best.
The honest answer is that these tools overlap a lot. They all help with keywords and listing checks. The differences are in what data they focus on, how much the free plan gives you, and how the paid plans are priced. This guide compares the main ones using each company's own pricing page, checked in October 2026. Prices change, so check their pricing pages before you buy.
Start with Etsy's free tool
Before paying for any of these, try Marketplace Insights. It's Etsy's own keyword tool, in Shop Manager under Stats, and it shows how often phrases are searched on Etsy (Etsy help: Marketplace Insights). It's free, with a weekly limit. Your shop's Stats also show the searches buyers already use to find you, under "How shoppers found you" (Etsy help: Stats).
Our guide to finding Etsy keywords walks through both. Many sellers find that these two, plus the search bar, cover most of what they need.
eRank: the baseline
According to eRank's pricing page (erank.com/pricing), the free plan gives you 5 keyword lookups a day, one connected shop with up to 50 listings, 5 listing audits a day and one use a day of its AI Listing Helper. It needs no card and has no time limit. Paid plans were listed at $5.99, $9.99 and $29.99 a month. eRank also shows keyword trends for other marketplaces, including Amazon and eBay.
Best for: sellers who want a cheap, broad tool and sell on more than one marketplace.
Marmalead
Marmalead's pricing page (marmalead.com/pricing) lists quarterly ($53), annual ($190) and lifetime plans. We didn't see a free plan on its pricing page. Its features include:
- "Storm" keyword suggestions, each scored for search volume, engagement and competition
- Keyword seasonality and forecasting
- Pricing ranges showing bargain, mid-range and premium prices in the market
- A letter grade for each of your listings, with SEO and sales factors
- AI description critique and AI-suggested FAQs
Best for: sellers who care most about choosing keywords and want engagement data, not just search volume.
EverBee
EverBee's pricing page (everbee.io/pricing) has a free Hobby plan with limited product analytics (views, reviews and favourites) and 10 keyword searches. It doesn't offer a free trial of the paid plans. The Growth plan was $299 a year on annual billing, and adds sales and revenue estimates for listings, unlimited keyword research, a Tag Analyzer and AI actions. A higher Business plan adds more history and unlimited use. It works through a Chrome extension.
Best for: sellers researching what to make next, who want sales and revenue estimates on other shops' listings.
Alura
Alura's pricing page (alura.io/pricing) has a free plan with 5 keyword and product searches a day, a limited number of AI listing optimizations, a profit calculator and a Chrome extension. Paid plans on annual billing were $7.99, $14.99 and $29.99 a month. Higher plans add Pinterest marketing, A/B tests, an analytics suite and email marketing.
Best for: sellers who want keyword research plus marketing and shop tools in one place.
Sale Samurai
Sale Samurai's pricing page (salesamurai.io/pricing) has a free plan with 20 keyword searches and 10 listing analyses a month, no card needed. Its paid plan was $19.99 a month, or $199.90 a year, with a 3-day free trial. It focuses on Etsy search volume and trends, keyword research, competitor listings and shop analytics, with a free Chrome extension.
Best for: sellers who want a focused keyword and competitor tool and like to try everything before paying.

A word on the numbers
Every third-party tool estimates. Search volumes and sales figures come from their own data and models, so two tools can show different numbers for the same keyword. Use them to compare phrases against each other, not as exact counts. Marketplace Insights is the only one here with numbers straight from Etsy.
How to choose
- 1Start free. Use Marketplace Insights, your Stats and the search bar for a few weeks.
- 2Name the gap. Do you need more keyword lookups, sales estimates, listing audits or marketing help?
- 3Try the free plan of the tool that fills that gap, on your real listings.
- 4Pay for one tool, not three. They overlap. Pick the one you open most.
Once you have keywords, use them in a readable title and 13 tags. Our Etsy titles and tags guide shows how. If views are the problem, start with why your Etsy shop isn't getting views.
Where YelloShelf fits
YelloShelf isn't a keyword research tool, so it doesn't replace any of these. It drafts Etsy titles, descriptions and 13 tags from your product photos, within Etsy's limits, so you're not writing from a blank page. It doesn't have a free plan or trial. You buy a credit pack, starting at $10, and your first purchase comes with a money-back guarantee. We're helping you remove the manual, tedious, time-consuming work. You still read it, edit it and paste it in yourself.
Quick checklist
- Try Marketplace Insights and your shop Stats first.
- Write down the one job a paid tool should do.
- Test the free plan on your real listings.
- Treat search volumes as estimates for comparing phrases.
- Read each tool's own pricing page before buying.
- Pay for one tool, and cancel it if you stop using it.
FAQ
What is the best free alternative to eRank?
Etsy's own Marketplace Insights, in Shop Manager under Stats, is free with a weekly limit and shows Etsy's own search numbers. EverBee, Alura and Sale Samurai also have free plans with smaller limits.
Is Marmalead better than eRank?
They focus on different things. Marmalead puts more weight on keyword engagement, seasonality and pricing ranges, while eRank is cheaper to start and covers several marketplaces. Try eRank's free plan and compare it with Marmalead's features on your own keywords.
Does EverBee have a free plan?
Yes. EverBee's Hobby plan is free and includes limited product analytics and 10 keyword searches. It doesn't offer a free trial of its paid plans.
Why do Etsy SEO tools show different search volumes?
Each tool estimates search volume with its own data and methods, so numbers vary. Use them to compare phrases, and check Etsy's Marketplace Insights for figures from Etsy itself.
Do I need a paid Etsy SEO tool?
Not to start. Etsy's search bar, Marketplace Insights and your shop Stats are free and cover most keyword work. A paid tool helps when you list a lot or want data like sales estimates.
